Devell Hawkins, a Florida native who grew up in a single parent household with two other siblings. At an early age, he became aware of his dyslexia, a disorder involving difficulty reading and writing. Embarrassment brought him a great deal of frustration and he began making poor decisions. As a result, he was arrested repeatedly from a juvenile into adulthood, leaving him with an extensive criminal history.
In 2005, Devell was sentenced to 22 years in Federal Prison. Refusing to allow his past to dictate his future, he changed his way of thinking and faced his disability head on. Seven years later, he achieved his GED and continued to educate himself.
In 2015, he wrote his first urban novel and began his walk as an independently published author. After penning, he would write several novels and his first screenplay. With his creative mind, he managed to capture the favor of many with his words and even more with his ambition to succeed. He also became a pillow in the community, sharing positive words of encouragement.
In 2019, Devell Hawkins was released from Federal Prison after serving 15 years. A short time later he became a Bestselling Author.
